German is one of the ten most spoken languages in the world. Some 185 million people worldwide speak German. You can still study in Germany even if you don’t know German, but some knowledge of the language make everyday life a lot easier and help you immerse yourself in the country. Apart from that, foreign languages are also increasingly sought after by employers. There are many ways to learn German prior to your stay or while out there. Whether you learn the traditional way by joining a class, or whether you team up with a German language tandem partner or flatmate, learning German can be great fun and hugely beneficial.

The ability to speak both German and English is an advantage for finding a job with the many multinational companies using German as their working language, in a wide range of sectors (retailing, automotive, luxury goods, aeronautics, etc.). France, as the world’s fourth biggest economy, attracts entrepreneurs, researchers and the cream of foreign students.

German Language at SLIG

SLIG's pedagogical system is based on personalised programmes and individual support for learners. Our team has developed a method and a pace of progression as well as tailored activities so that each learner can reach his/her set objectives according to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference)

Communicative approach : The learners are taught by using a communicative approach based on active learning. Our courses are completely based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL).

Effective Course Content : SLIG has developed a very effective course content which guarantees a professional and lively learning. Immersion in French language begins in our classrooms where learners put the language into practice to draw on their knowledge, skills and reflexes to use in real situations.

Interactive classrooms : Learners are constantly interacting in both written and oral French and are therefore active in their learning. The atmosphere in classroom is both friendly and serious; the pace of the course is dynamic and steady to actively develop the language skills of learners.

Special attention on pronunciation & intonation : As spoken and written German are completely different from each other. Intonation and pronunciation are significant components while learning language. SLIG provides special attention on the pronunciation and intonation through Audio-lingual method and oral approach.

Level evaluation : The level of every student is assessed with the practice of the sample papers and mock tests in classroom as they provide good practice and are a barometer to judge abilities. Sample papers have designed in this way that they can provide the real look and feel of the examination. Sample papers are discussed in classroom before the actual test which allows to write exams for international diplomas & tests with confidence.

Teaching materials : A wide range of quality material is provided to the learners which enhance their adaptability in the language. Teaching materials used in class include recent books, audio and video documents, newspaper articles, internet resources, literature and specifically developed in-house material by our teachers. Activities promote communication so that learners can adapt themselves to different types of situation.

Flexibility and variety : Classes are organized according to the level required and learning objectives of the learner. New batches starts twice a month so that the leaner can choose the duration and schedule of their choice. The learners are advised to pursue that course which suits their profile and their needs.

Levels and Test Format

German A1

German A1 is a test designed to check use of familiar words and simple phrases by the non-native German speakers. At this stage, the test taker should be able to introduce himself or someone else & can ask and answer basic questions about home, family, surroundings, etc. The test taker should have the basic knowledge of the language to communicate. You learn how to make simple enquiries in speaking and writing, and to give instructions. You build on your basic grammar skills and increase your vocabulary.

German A2

German A2 is a test designed to check use of isolated phrases and common expressions that relate to areas of high personal relevance (like personal or family information, shopping, and immediate environment, work by the basic user of German. At this stage, the test taker should be able to communicate during easy or habitual tasks requiring a basic and direct information exchange on familiar subjects. You learn how to express yourself adequately in familiar, everyday situations and to read and understand simple texts.

German B1

German B1 is a test designed to check the capability of test taker with situations likely to arise in daily life. At this level, the user becomes independent. He/she can maintain interaction: he/she can understand and maintain a discussion and give his/her opinion. You consolidate and revise basic grammar structures, and learn to lead discussions on interesting topics.

German B2

German B2 is a test designed to check a degree of independence that allows him/her to construct arguments to defend his/her opinion, explain his/her viewpoint and negotiate. At this level, the candidate has a degree of fluency and spontaneity in regular interactions and is capable of correcting his/her own mistakes. You have a command of the essentials of German. You practise reading, writing and discussing difficult topics and work-related issues.

Q – How much does it cost to learn each level of German language?

The cost of each level varies. Minimum cost is Rs. 7500 with tax.

Q – What is the average time period for each level of German language?

At least 8 weeks for each level to complete. The number of lessons may vary upon the level.

Q – What type of resource material is helpful to improve German Language?

We follow the curriculum of Goethe and we have also developed our own practice books at SLIG. Students will be provided both sets.

Q – How long does it take to be fluent in German?

It depends upon the labor of student. At least 6 months is a good time for moderate level of German language.

Q – How much time will I take to become fluent English speaker?

By following the strategies and techniques taught in our classes, you will become confident in English Speaking, by the end of the course.

Q – Where can I take the exam?

Exam for all German language levels is conducted by Goethe center Thapathali.

Q – How much does it cost for each level of exam for German Language?

For A1, fee is € 80, for A2, fee is € 85, for B1 fee is € 130 and for B2 fee is € 160.

Q – How often can i take the exam?
